Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with Poly (required)
Terms: Full-Time, Exempt (Employed by the Client)
Reports To: COR / Program Leadership (in coordination with project stakeholders)
Schedule: Standard Business Hours (may require flexibility based on project needs)
Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000 annually

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a mission-focused organization to identify a Senior Construction Inspector (FN) supporting a customer at Fort Meade, MD. This role is designed for a seasoned field professional who can lead multi-discipline inspections, enforce safety and quality standards, and provide expert technical support to the COR in a secure federal environment.

Job Overview

The Senior Construction Inspector performs on-site inspections across architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes to ensure installations comply with contract documents, applicable codes, and safety requirements. The role maintains rigorous documentation (inspection logs, daily reports), supports commissioning and closeout activities, and provides technical input on constructability concerns and change order impacts.

Key ResponsibilitiesMulti-Discipline On-Site Inspection (35%)

  • Perform inspections of construction activities across architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Verify work in place matches drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and contract requirements.
  • Identify non-conforming work and support corrective action planning and verification.

Submittal Review & Constructability Support (20%)

  • Review shop drawings and material submittals for alignment with contract documents and constructability considerations.
  • Provide technical support to the COR related to constructability issues, field conflicts, and potential impacts to cost/schedule.

Documentation, Reporting & COR Support (25%)

  • Maintain detailed inspection logs and daily reports, documenting progress, conditions, and issues.
  • Communicate findings clearly to the COR and stakeholders; track open items through resolution.
  • Support change order reviews by providing field-based technical insight and documentation.

Safety & Code Compliance (10%)

  • Enforce and monitor safety compliance requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, and OHWB standards.
  • Elevate unsafe conditions immediately and ensure appropriate mitigation actions are initiated.

Commissioning & Closeout Readiness (10%)

  • Support commissioning and closeout deliverables, including punch lists, O&M manuals, as-built documentation, and final inspections.
  • Verify completion and readiness for turnover in accordance with project acceptance criteria.

Job Scope

This role supports mission-critical facilities programs within a secure federal environment. Success requires deep knowledge of inspection practices across multiple trades, strong judgment, disciplined documentation habits, and the ability to advise the COR and project stakeholders on quality, safety, and constructability throughout execution and closeout.

Skills & ExperienceMinimum Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI with Poly (required).
  • Certification: Active Certified Construction Inspector (CCI) required.
  • Education/Training: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus completion of a building trade journeyman accreditation.
  • Experience: 10+ years of field trade experience and/or supervision in electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, or architectural facilities construction.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction inspection principles, facilities engineering technologies (mechanical, electrical, building), QA/QC methodologies, and applicable building codes and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting commissioning and turnover packages in secure/federal environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of submittal workflows, inspection reporting, and QA tracking systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical findings clearly to leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
