Work Environment & Conditions
- Fully onsite at an Industrial Gas Plant and Semiconductor Central Utility Plant (CUP)
- Safety-sensitive position
- Required PPE: FR clothing, safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, 4-gas monitor
- Exposure to gases/chemicals: Hydrogen, CO2, Helium, Nitrogen, Argon, Potassium Hydroxide
- Lifting requirement: Up to 50 lbs
- No work at heights
- Occasional driving of plant vehicle (F150 equivalent) for transport of analyzers and calibration gases (~3 miles between sites)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Gas Analyzer Specialist (Metrology Quality Engineer) to support quality control and analytical instrumentation within a high-tech industrial gas and semiconductor environment. This role focuses on gas analyzer maintenance, quality engineering, and process optimization, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation & Metrology
- Manage and maintain gas analyzers (GC, GCMS, moisture, oxygen analyzers) across sites
- Perform calibration, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Gage R&R (GR&R)
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and resolve non-conformances
- Oversee preventive maintenance, acceptance testing, and spare parts inventory
Quality Control & Compliance
- Execute end-to-end quality control (IQC, IPQC, OQC) processes
- Monitor Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) and other critical parameters
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Exercise stop-work authority for safety or quality risks
Supplier & Inventory Management
- Manage calibration gas standards, inventory, and certification
- Conduct supplier audits and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Ensure vendors meet quality and compliance standards
Continuous Improvement & Analysis
- Implement quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, RCA, PDCA, and control charts
- Analyze process data to identify trends and drive improvements
- Support root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement
Collaboration & Operations
- Partner with operations, facility, and quality teams
- Support cross-site analyzer coordination and reporting
- Participate in rotational on-call support as required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–2+ years of experience with industrial gas analyzers or semiconductor-grade chemical analysis
- Experience in quality control (IQC/IPQC/OQC) in industrial gas, chemical, or semiconductor environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Willingness to work in a safety-sensitive, industrial environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GC, GCMS, moisture, and oxygen analyzers
- Familiarity with TVOC analysis and monitoring
- Background in highly regulated industries (semiconductor, medical, nuclear)
- Experience with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, MSA, RCA)
- US Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician experience is a plus
