Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This pharmacy leadership opportunity involves managing the pharmacy operations at a behavioral health facility in Winston-Salem, NC. The position requires expertise in inpatient pharmacy management with a focus on ensuring timely medication delivery, maintaining staffing coverage, and managing costs within budget. Ideal candidates will have behavioral health and Joint Commission experience, although hands-on training is provided for system-specific knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations including dispensing, verifying orders in the HCS system, and checking technician work
- Assist with stocking and managing Omnicell automation
- Lead Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee activities and antimicrobial stewardship programs
- Develop and update policies as needed to maintain regulatory compliance
- Ensure efficient medication distribution to patients and manage pharmacy staffing to meet coverage needs and budgetary constraints
- Support and supervise pharmacy technicians in dispensing, ordering, and repackaging functions
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist in North Carolina
- Experience in inpatient pharmacy and pharmacy management
- Behavioral health pharmacy experience preferred
- Familiarity with Joint Commission standards a plus
- Knowledge of HCS order entry system and Omnicell automation beneficial but training will be provided
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
Schedule and Coverage:
- Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus on-call duties (typically light)
- Weekend coverage from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. if not covered by part-time pharmacist hours
Additional Details:
- Orientation includes 4-5 days of training alongside outgoing Director of Pharmacy, beginning February 25th
- Contract position through May 29th, with potential for extension or permanent placement
- Staff includes 2 part-time pharmacists and multiple pharmacy technicians
- Local candidates preferred; if relocation or travel is necessary, related expenses will be discussed
