Key Responsibilities
Student Support: Provide individualized assistance for equitable participation in the school day.
Behavior Management: Implement positive reinforcement and behavior support strategies as designed.
Instructional Assistance: Help with remediation of learning problems as directed.
Record Keeping: Maintain confidential student records and files.
Safety & Security: Monitor students and ensure their safety.
Equipment Use: Instruct and monitor students on using classroom materials.
Qualifications for Central York SD
Education: At least two years of post-secondary study (48 credits) or an Associate's Degree or higher.
Competency: Pass the state/local assessment (Special Education Credential of Competency or CAPE test).
Clearances: Valid PA Criminal, Child Abuse, and FBI Criminal History Background Checks.
Certifications: Current First Aid/CPR as assigned.
Professional Development: 20 hours annually related to the position.
Typical Work Environment
- Works with a specific student or small group needing consistent support.
- Reports to the assigned school principal.
- Often involves daily shifts, Monday through Friday.
