A plant operator is a key position in ensuring the processing plant functions as intended. Operators are responsible for tending to various plant equipment in terms of installation, operation, and maintenance. Operators monitor plant processes to ensure smooth operation during production shifts.

The plant operator position will be a hybrid role, focusing on both operations from the control room and the field. Operators are expected to complete daily tasks as assigned by the Plant Lead Operator or directly issued by the Plant Superintendent.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Operating and monitoring the Hydrophobic-Hydrophilic Separation process systems, cleaning and maintaining process equipment and machinery, and ensuring plant availability.
  • Adjusting equipment settings to optimize the HHS process, either individually or at the direction of the Plant Superintendent.
  • Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of plant equipment to maintain plant availability and ensure smooth operation.
  • Read and interpret plant instruments measuring a variety of process variables such as flow, pressure, temperature, etc., and make recommendations to control room as to process changes.
  • Ability to start and stop equipment safely as needed throughout the operation, both from the field and the control room.
  • Ability to work through plant start-up, operating, shut-down and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Troubleshoot process issues that arise during production.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, etc.
  • Achieve working knowledge of plant processes and equipment, in terms of both maintenance and function.
  • Load/Offload equipment parts and various plant supplies.


Requirements and Qualifications

  • Four years of experience in a heavy Industrial/Mining environment
  • Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with computerized Industrial/Mining systems
  • Mechanical expertise and knowledge of basic hand and power tools
  • Forklift experience
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills
