Job DescriptionSalary:

Summary:

The Buyer II manages sourcing and supplier relationships to achieve competitive pricing, strong supplier performance, and balanced inventory levels. This position supports procurement strategy and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence.


Essential Functions

Lead cost, terms, and contract negotiations to drive value and ensure supply continuity.

Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers based on quality, service, and total cost performance.

Manage supplier relationships to resolve delivery, quality, and service issues while driving continuous improvement.

Support new product introductions and sourcing transitions through effective communication and supplier coordination.


Skills & Qualifications

Proven ability to negotiate effectively and influence positive business outcomes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to cost, quality, and timelines.

Proficiency in ERP or procurement systems (e.g., JDE, SAP, Oracle) and Excel-based reporting.

Understanding of purchasing agreements, supplier scorecards, and performance metrics.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and time management skills across cross-functional teams.

Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education and Experience

Degree in business, supply chain, or related field with 3 years of experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of progressive purchasing experience.


Supervisory Responsibility:

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, and photocopiers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position requires regular onsite attendance at the assigned work location. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs. Employees are also expected to participate in at least one non-convention farm event each year and support the annual company convention. Work hours may be adjusted as needed by the employees manager to meet operational requirements.


Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and occasionally lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused.
