Under supervision of the leadership of the EP Lab, the Cardiovascular Technologist acts as a critical member of the patient care team and promotes a culture of collaboration and patient-centered care in all interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel. They focus on understanding and meeting the needs of patients, providers, and other staff. The CVT must have a thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy, EKG interpretation, and electrical conduction. They must maintain knowledge of all technical equipment, sterile technique, radiation safety, procedural protocol and general hospital and departmental policies and requirements. They must display the ability to handle all potential cardiac and non-cardiac related emergencies. \n\n1. Consistent demonstrated competency in equipment operation including but not limited to biomedical hemodynamic and physiologic monitoring, intravascular ultrasound, intracardiac echocardiography, transvenous pacemaker generator, defibrillator, leadless pacemaker, HIS pacemaker, BiV ICD/pacer, SICD, watchman implant, SVT ablation, VT ablation, PVI, Atrial flutters, CRYO ablations, CRYO machine maintenance, venograms, device programmers, micro pace system and mapping systems.\n\n2. Thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy, EKG interpretation, electric conduction and physiology. Must be competent in monitoring and recording EKGs as well as overdrive pacing.\n3. Performs/reviews baseline, intra procedure patient assessments. Evaluates/monitors patient response to interventional pacing maneuvers and medications given throughout the case. This includes vital signs, rhythm assessment, hemodynamic pressures, and proper pacing maneuvers needed.\n\n4. Assist physician with diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology studies this includes but not limited to scrubs in to assist operator, sterile prep for various cases, and flushing of sheaths.
