  • Compensation: $16 + tips
  • Availability: Weekends and holidays required.

About the Role

You will play a key role in delivering exceptional food and beverage service at events, meetings, and special functions. This position is ideal for someone with prior serving experience who thrives in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.

The Banquet Captain is responsible for leading and coordinating banquet service operations to ensure events are executed smoothly, efficiently, and according to established service standards. This position serves as a key point of contact during assigned events and provides direction to banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff.

What You’ll Do

  • Willingness to accept the most effective role - even if that is adapting to different roles as needed to support successful event execution.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management if and when needed.
  • Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to understand menu details, timelines, and event setup & that the events are executed accordingly.
  • Inspect banquet rooms and service areas prior to guest arrival to ensure all tables, linens, place settings, décor, equipment, and service stations are properly prepared.
  • Set up banquet spaces, including tables, place settings, buffets, and beverage stations.
  • Assist with event preparation, including condiments, beverages, and service areas.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and other departments to ensure food and beverage service is timely and accurate.
  • Monitor the quality, presentation, timing, and flow of food and beverage service throughout the event.
  • Anticipate guest needs and take appropriate action to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Supervise and provide direction to banquet staff throughout setup, service, and breakdown.
  • Communicate event changes or special requests to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.
  • Assist with post-event cleanup, including sweeping, mopping, transporting dirty dishes and resetting spaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet and service areas

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, hotel, country club, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to provide professional, polished guest service
  • Strong customer service, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented when handling guest concerns or unexpected situations.
  • Dependable, punctual, and adaptable
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and move throughout event spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry banquet equipment, supplies, and other items as required by the position.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain attentive during extended events.

Schedule & Availability

This position requires flexibility based on the organization's banquet and event schedule. Availability may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying start and end times depending on scheduled events.
