POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health Information Manager at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administrative functions of the Health Information Management Department while ensuring the accurate maintenance, organization, and security of patient medical records.


In this role, the Health Information Manager supervises the operational aspects of the department and serves as a key resource for the facility regarding medical record documentation standards, regulatory compliance, and health information processes. This position ensures that patient records are complete, accurate, confidential, and readily accessible to authorized staff when needed to support quality patient care and continuity of services.


The Health Information Manager is responsible for ensuring departmental duties are performed in accordance with facility policies and procedures, Joint Commission (JCAHO) standards, federal and state regulations, and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) guidelines. Additional responsibilities may include monitoring record compliance, assisting with audits and surveys, supporting staff education related to documentation requirements, and maintaining effective record retention and filing systems.


This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, knowledge of healthcare regulations, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multiple departments. The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of health information while supporting the mission of Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles.


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND/OR EXPIERENCE:

Education: High school diploma with additional training in Health Information Management department
functions (i.e. certified health information management technician or other such certification or
training).
License: State of Practice. If applicable
Experience: At least 1 year supervisory experience and 5 years as an HIM Manager or an equivent role.
Psychiatric HIM experience is preferred to adequately perform duties in this position
