HawkMtn Labs (HML) is a trusted, independent, third party, analytical & testing Laboratory that provides services across Northeast PA. We specialize in providing high-quality testing, inspection, and reporting services to clients in environmental, infrastructure, and public works sectors. We are currently seeking a Geotechnical Construction Materials Supervisor to lead our construction testing and field inspection operations.
This is a critical leadership role for a skilled professional ready to oversee complex testing programs, manage field and lab personnel, and ensure regulatory compliance across a wide range of public and private projects.

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of industry standards and practices; administration and documentation; technical report writing; and laboratory testing methods (Atterberg Limits, Sieve Analysis, Proctors, CBR, etc.); and equipment and software used for inspections and materials testing.
They will also have the skills and abilities to lead, mentor, and evaluate field and laboratory personnel; perform and supervise inspections and technical testing; interpret construction RFPs, specifications, and lab results; make decisions regarding acceptance/rejection of materials and workmanship; communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory officials; manage budgets, schedules, and equipment; maintain accurate and organized project records; and prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines under various field conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise field and laboratory staff conducting materials testing and construction inspections
- Develop, manage, and oversee QA/QC programs for projects in accordance with industry standards and practices
- Maintain and develop laboratory testing protocols; ensure equipment calibration and maintenance schedules are up to date
- Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation, reports, and inspection records
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, contractors, and government agencies
- Assist in developing operational procedures, training plans, and safety protocols
- Manage and support accreditation requirements for materials testing lab
Qualifications & Experience Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in construction or materials inspection
- Experience with highway, public works, or heavy civil construction projects
- ACI Certification (including site development, building, and construction)
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting tools
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Certifications (optional): Relevant certifications in laboratory practices, construction management, civil engineering, or instrumentation are a plus.
