Machinist-Set up, cnc milling

Overview

The CNC Machining Center Set Up sets up and operates with little supervision.

Hourly Rate: $22.00 - $28.00

Type of Position: Temporary to Hire

Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the duties & skills listed above, the following skills are required for each level, provided that the individual is certified and applies them in their current assignment.

CNC Machining Center Set Up Level I

  • Works from traveler, blueprint with sequence operations

  • Positions and secures tooling and holding devices

  • Checks machine on dry run operation

  • Make sure machine activates to the program

  • Checks own first articles, must conform to specification, using all precision measuring instruments

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

CNC Machining Center Set Up Level II (in addition to CNC Machining Center Set Up Level I)

  • Sets up and operates all CNC machine center with very minimum supervision

  • Plan highly complex and exacting jobs

  • Setups, and pulls all required toolkits, inspection gauges, holding devices and materials specified by data sheet

  • Replace dull inserts or install pre-set tools in machine

  • Loads programs and makes specified offset control settings according to the data offset sheet

  • Set positions, check machine operation

  • Checks own work for conformance to specification

  • Inspects machine parts to ensure job specification maintenance doing first article of various parts operation to conform to print’s dimension to quality control specification, material certs confirmation

  • Improves machining methods by reducing cycle and setup time, deleting extra tool, modified fixtures for quick set up

Education and Experience

  • HS diploma required

  • Minimum 2+ years progressive experience in machine shop environment

  • Experience in metal machining industry or some technical training

  • May be required to work from handwritten schematics, blueprints, numerical control data, operations sheets

  • Knowledge in the use of all precision instruments and gauges, to submit quality first article parts

  • Friendly, enthusiastic and a good team player

  • Efficient, accurate, attentive to detail

  • Self-motivated and willing to take initiative
