Nurse Manager
Syracuse, New York
Our client is seeking a Nurse Manager to oversee the leadership, coordination, and administration of the assigned nursing department to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective patient care. Responsibilities include ensuring the nursing process is carried out effectively, evaluating care plans, and assessing the quality of care provided by department staff.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide overall leadership, operational oversight, and coordination of staff within assigned area(s) of responsibility, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
- Coordinate departmental activities and maintain effective collaboration with other departments, attending and actively contributing to hospital or medical performance improvement councils and committees as requested.
- Communicate proactively with staff through regular updates, policy and procedural changes, and scheduled meetings; address concerns and provide clarification or resolution as needed.
- Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies, scope of services, and quality indicators; revise and update as necessary.
- Manage all aspects of staff administration, including recruitment, onboarding/orientation, coaching, professional development, scheduling, work assignments, and performance management, in accordance with hospital policies and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
- Ensure the provision of safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care by overseeing the nursing process—assessment, intervention, evaluation—and maintaining awareness of patients’ and families’ physical and psychological needs.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of nursing standards, using process and outcome audits to monitor compliance and effectiveness.
- Create and maintain monthly staffing plans to ensure safe patient care environments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or a Bachelor’s degree in another field with a Master’s in Nursing; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire or within two weeks of hire.
- Minimum of five (5) years of staff nursing experience with demonstrated clinical expertise.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
BASE SALARY RANGE: $125,000 - $135,000
