Electrical Estimator – T&D / Substations
Overview
Our client, a leading contractor in the power delivery sector, is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support the delivery of transmission, distribution, and substation projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization involved in complex utility infrastructure work across multiple regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for T&D and substation projects, including labor, materials, and equipment
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate project pricing
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations
- Perform quantity take-offs and scope analysis to ensure complete bid coverage
- Participate in bid reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering efforts
- Support the development of proposals, including RFP responses and bid submissions
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to align estimates with execution strategy
- Assist with change order pricing and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
- 3+ years of electrical estimating experience
OR
- 4+ years of experience within T&D and/or substation projects
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and utility standards
- Experience with take-offs, bid preparation, and subcontractor management
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on utility-scale transmission, distribution, or substation projects
- Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases
- Background working for an electrical contractor or utility contractor
