Shift: M-F 9am-5:30pm

Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk ensures that all outbound and inbound products are accurately prepared, packaged, documented, and processed in accordance with customer requirements and company standards. This role focuses on safe and efficient handling of materials, careful review of orders for special instructions, and timely coordination of shipments and deliveries using various carrier and customer portals.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety requirements and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Review customer orders prior to shipping to identify any special instructions related to labeling, certificates of conformance, or special packaging requirements.
  • Inspect products before shipment to verify accuracy and quality, then bag, tag, and package parts for shipment.
  • Select appropriate containers, labels, and boxes to ensure all items are packaged securely and protected from damage during transit.
  • Monitor and review the daily shipping queue regularly throughout the day to ensure on-time processing of all customer shipments.
  • Shrink wrap, strap, label, and prepare pallets for pickup, ensuring they are stable and properly identified.
  • Proactively identify orders that may be at risk of not shipping on time and communicate issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provide logistics support by delivering and picking up products and materials as needed.
  • Interact with supplier and customer portals, including major carriers such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS, to schedule and enact shipments and deliveries.
  • Use shipping programs and related systems to process shipments, print labels, and update shipment status as required.
  • Assist other team members within the department as necessary to meet production and shipping deadlines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and machine shop operations.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to follow safety procedures and work in a manufacturing, machine shop, or small warehouse environment.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing orders, labels, and packaging requirements.
  • Capability to inspect, bag, tag, and package products accurately and efficiently.
  • Skill in selecting appropriate packaging materials to prevent damage during transit.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks using a daily shipping queue to ensure on-time shipments.
  • Experience preparing pallets, including shrink wrapping, strapping, and labeling.
  • Effective communication skills to proactively report potential shipping delays or issues.
  • Basic computer literacy to interact with carrier and customer portals.
  • Willingness to perform logistics support, including delivery and pickup of products and materials.
  • Ability to collaborate and assist colleagues within the department.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Shipping experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Additional related training or education in logistics, warehousing, or a similar field.
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of shipping programs, including UPS, FedEx, DHL systems, and MRP/ERP software.
  • Familiarity with customer and supplier web portals for shipment processing.

Work Environment

This role operates in a machine shop and small warehouse environment, where you work around manufacturing equipment, materials, and pallets. The position involves hands-on work with packaging materials, containers, and pallets, as well as frequent interaction with shipping systems and carrier portals. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring adherence to established procedures and careful handling of products to ensure they remain undamaged during storage and transit.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
