Location: Charlotte, NC | Payrate: $27.46 | Schedule: Must be flexible to work 1st 2nd or 3rd shift
Are you an experienced HVAC professional with hands-on chiller expertise and a passion for solving complex technical challenges? PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading HVAC manufacturing company to hire a dependable and highly skilled Set Up Technician to support advanced engineering laboratory operations.
What You’ll Do
As a Set Up Tech, you’ll play a critical role in supporting HVAC and chiller operations by ensuring equipment is properly set up, tested, and maintained for peak performance. Your work will directly contribute to operational efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Use hand and pneumatic tools to set up and maintain HVAC/chiller equipment

Work with flow, temperature, and pressure measuring equipment

Handle and utilize precision measuring instruments

Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical machinery

Support chiller operations and control systems setup

Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment

Collaborate with technicians and operations teams to ensure equipment reliability
Required Qualifications
-
Technical/Business School Certificate, High School Diploma/GED, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship

Minimum 1 year of experience using hand and pneumatic tools

Experience working with flow, temperature, and pressure measuring equipment

Experience handling precision measuring instruments
Preferred Qualifications
-
3+ years of experience in Chiller/HVAC operations
-
2+ years of shop experience with mechanical/electrical machinery
-
Experience working with chiller control systems such as Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, or similar systems
Work Environment
-
Frequent standing, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs
-
Work around mechanical equipment, refrigerants, compressed gases, and varying temperatures

Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required to support critical maintenance

Pay Details: $27.46 per hour
