Compensation: $150,000 - $170,000 annual base salary, plus bonus eligibility
The Opportunity
This is not a "babysit the jobsite" superintendent role.
Alpha Inc. is looking for a Civil Superintendent who can take full ownership of complex civil projects on Kauaʻi—from planning through punch list—and deliver them with discipline, pride, and precision.
You'll be the field leader: setting the tone for safety, quality, productivity, and culture on your projects. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Foremen, Project Managers, and crews to turn plans into reality—while protecting people, schedules, and margins.

What You Will Do
As the Civil Superintendent, you are accountable for end-to-end field execution of assigned civil construction projects on Kauaʻi.
Own Jobsite Execution
- Plan, organize, and direct daily construction activities in coordination with Project Managers and Foremen.
- Develop and maintain work schedules aligned with crew availability, material deliveries, and project milestones.
- Adjust plans proactively to account for weather, site conditions, and unforeseen challenges.
Lead Crews & Field Teams
- Build, train, and lead high-performing field crews by assigning work based on skill sets and experience.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and clear communication.
- Address jobsite conflicts or issues promptly, professionally, and respectfully.
Safety & Quality Leadership
- Enforce Alpha Inc.'s safety policies and OSHA requirements across all jobsite activities.
- Conduct safety training on tools, equipment, and proper use of protective gear.
- Ensure all work meets Alpha's quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Schedule, Budget & Controls
- Track daily production, manpower, and equipment usage.
- Monitor project costs and productivity; identify risks early and collaborate on corrective action.
- Review and support change orders while balancing scope, schedule, and budget.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary field point of contact for day-to-day project execution.
- Participate in regular project meetings to report progress, resolve issues, and align next steps.
- Read, interpret, and communicate drawings, plans, and specifications clearly to crews.
Professional Standards
- Maintain compliance with all Alpha Inc. policies and procedures.
- Keep jobsite documentation accurate and current.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
What You Bring

Experience
- 5+ years of successful, progressive experience in heavy civil construction required.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead jobsite operations from mobilization through close-out.
- Experience coordinating crews, equipment, subcontractors, and project schedules.
Education & Technical Skills
- Associate degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; MAC experience preferred.
- Familiarity with HCSS, HeavyJob, or Adobe Acrobat preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and blueprints and clearly communicate scope to crews.

Requirements (Conditions of Employment)
Employment at Alpha Inc. is contingent upon:
- Completion of standard pre-employment screening.
- Successful completion of a background check conducted after a conditional offer; any prior issues will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis consistent with Hawaiʻi and federal law.
- Passing a drug test (for both full-time and part-time hires) conducted in line with Hawaiʻi statutory requirements.
