Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an RN Med Surg Oncology for a top Healthcare client.
This core nursing role requires the RN to make autonomous clinical assessments and manage treatment plans for adult patients with complex medical and oncology needs within a patient-centered model. The position involves providing compassionate, specialized care, advocating for patients, and collaborating within a dedicated team to ensure optimal clinical outcomes and support throughout the patient's stay.
Job Responsibilities
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation and analyze the assessment data to determine priority diagnoses or issues.
- Utilize autonomous clinical judgment to manage treatment protocols and ensure safe, effective patient care delivery.
- Develop an individualized plan of care that identifies expected outcomes and prescribes appropriate strategies for attainment.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring patient safety and collaborating as a vital part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and their families regarding medications, procedures, and oncology treatments, providing necessary support throughout their stay.
- Ensure effective and efficient care, including the optimal use of time, supplies, and equipment on the unit.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient education.
Requirements
Education
- Nursing Diploma or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of Recent Registered Nurse (RN) experience is required.
- Acute care experience is strongly preferred, but not mandatory. Candidates with Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in an Oncology setting is highly desirable (implied by the job title).
Certifications/Licenses
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or able to obtain licensure prior to start is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is preferred, but is required within six (6) months of hire.
Skills
- Proven ability to make autonomous clinical assessments and manage complex patient treatment protocols.
- Strong advocacy and collaboration skills for working with the interdisciplinary team.
- Expertise in patient education related to medications, procedures, and complex treatments (e.g., chemotherapy protocols, side effect management is implied).
