Position Overview:

The primary role of the Transportation Specialist is to ensure youths are transported to medical appointments, court appearances, family time in the community, cottage trips/outings and other commitments safely, reliably and in compliance with agency regulations. The Transportation Specialist is vital in ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of agency vehicles. This position supports the safety and well-being of residents, staff, and visitors. Under the direction of the SCS Shift Supervisor, the specialist is responsible for adhering to New York State vehicle and traffic laws, following agency policies, and upholding The Children’s Village's mission and values. The Transportation Specialist shows dedication and willingness to work alongside the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM), supporting and carrying out the functions of the model to best serve the population. This individual is expected to have a nonjudgmental approach that focuses on skill building and basic principles of behavior (reinforcement, extinction, blocking and shaping). This individual is required to function as part of a team, committing to modeling pro social behavior and building positive relationships with all residents and staff.

Position Qualifications:

Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED (required). Some college preferred. Minimum of five years of experience operating a motor vehicle, including the five boroughs • Experience working with emotionally challenged youth and/or Juvenile Justice Programs, preferred. Experience with crisis management, preferred. Ability to carry out restraints as necessary
