TCC Family Health, founded in 1939, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), provides comprehensive, high quality health care and wellness services to those of all ages in the under resourced and underserved need in the greater Long Beach community. TCC is now a vibrant network of 14 clinic sites, including three school-based health centers, and one mobile medical clinic. Last year TCC served almost 40,000 patients through 175,000 medical, behavioral health, dental, optometry and wellness visits.

Under direct supervision of licensed personnel, the medical assistant will gather patient data, perform tasks as trained, generally assist with clinic activities that support patient care in the out-patient clinic, and facilitate a safe, clean working environment.
Overview:
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed personnel.
- Performs patient care activities as identified on the medical assistant competency checklist while maintaining safety, comfort, and privacy.
- Collects clinical data.
- Participates as a member of the health care team to carry out a plan of care.
- Consistently applies infection control policies and procedures.
- Responds to changing patient care needs.
- Maintain a safe and healthful environment.
- Provide secretarial support.
- Documents findings in the patient’s medical record in compliance with TCC specific standards and systems.
- Demonstrates patient care using specific interventions for the women’s health patient population.
- Competency Requirements: Successful completion and maintenance of TCC MA competency skills checklist
Additional responsibilities:
- Attends department specific staff meetings, in-services, education, and training.
- Participates in selected department specific Performance Improvement Projects,
- Demonstrates clinical practice consistent with TCC and MCH Standards of Nursing Practice and Clinical Policies and Procedures.
- Assists in maintaining systems to support nursing care.
- Participates in orientation and development of students and/or new staff as assigned.
Education and Qualifications Requirements:
- Required Education - High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Assistant Certification required
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred
- Previous experience in medical/hospital/business setting preferred
- Previous experience working in a OBGYN, pediatrics, or primary care setting preferred.
- Proven reliability, trustworthiness, flexibility, and high ethical standards is required.
- Must have ability to communicate and relate well to people.
- Must have ability to develop procedures for front desk activities.
- Demonstrated ability to treat all individuals with respect and exceptional customer service.
- Proficiency in system software, medical terminology, general office machine operations, and maintenance.
- Must type 35 wpm and must work well with others as well as independently.
- Must be able to demonstrate multi-tasking skills in a high-stress environment while adhering to HIPAA standards of confidentiality.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Khmer, preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00- $24.00 per hour
Schedule:
9:30AM - 6:00PM M - TH, Sat 8am
8 hour shift
