A retail pharmacist opportunity is available in Tularosa, NM, with flexibility to cover a secondary location nearby. This direct hire role offers engagement in a community grocery store pharmacy setting, focusing on patient care, medication dispensing, and supervising pharmacy technicians. The position supports a collaborative healthcare environment and requires availability for at least 13 weeks, with shorter assignments considered.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active New Mexico pharmacist license or willingness to obtain prior to start
  • Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Strong patient counseling and medication dispensing skills
  • Comfortable supervising and directing pharmacy technician staff
  • Flexible to cover shifts at a secondary retail location, including occasional weekends

Location:

  • Primary retail pharmacy inside a grocery store in Tularosa, NM
  • Secondary retail location nearby with occasional weekend coverage

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare, review, and dispense medication orders accurately, adhering to protocols
  • Maintain accurate patient medication profiles
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, verifying daily activities
  • Participate in medical emergency responses as part of the pharmacy team
  • Conduct medication storage inspections and identify outdated medications
  • Orient and train new pharmacy team members
  • Follow infection control protocols throughout pharmacy operations

Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Closed on weekends and major holidays at primary location; some weekend shifts at secondary location may be required
