Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

Join our dynamic prototype machine shop as a Machinist where you will work with a variety of 3 and 5 axis CNC Mills, primarily Haas. This role involves programming with Gibbscam software, setting up machines, making tool changes, and performing G&M edits to produce parts from print for diverse customers. Expect to work with a range of materials including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, and titanium, typically handling 1-2 setups per day with runs up to 50 pieces.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate CNC Mills using Gibbscam software.
  • Perform machine setups, tool changes, and touch-offs.
  • Edit G&M codes as necessary.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using digital inspection equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Produce parts from various materials including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, and titanium, adhering to print specifications.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with mill and CNC setups.
  • Proficiency in prototype machining.
  • Experience running short run machines.
  • Competency in using micrometers and calipers for inspections.
  • Short run job shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Two-year degree with some experience on mills or 3+ years of experience without formal education.
  • Experience with lathe and manual machining is a plus.

Work Environment

Work in a clean and specialized machine shop that focuses on tight tolerances and supplies industries such as Medical Device, Aerospace, Defense, and High Technology. The shop, ISO 9001 certified, includes a clean room for assembling neuro-implantable devices. Our team of about 25 people produces parts ranging from the size of a pen dot to larger aerospace components.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $83000.00/yr.
