Summary
Family Tree Ministry is seeking a warm, dedicated Lead Toddler Teacher who loves teaching and feels genuinely called to work with young children. This role is perfect for someone passionate about guiding 1–2-year-olds through early developmental milestones while nurturing their spiritual, emotional, and social growth.
Our Lead Toddler Teacher creates a safe, structured, and faith-centered environment, leads classroom routines with confidence, and partners closely with assistant teachers to ensure high-quality care and learning. We’re looking for someone who brings joy, patience, professionalism, and intentionality—elevating the classroom to the highest standard of Christian early education.
Duties
- Lead a warm, nurturing, faith-centered classroom for toddlers (1–2 years old).
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support language, motor skills, social-emotional growth, and early faith development.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Guide daily routines including diapering, meals, sensory play, circle time, and transitions.
- Model patience, calmness, and positive behavior for children and staff.
- Work closely with assistant teachers and support staff to share responsibilities and keep the classroom running smoothly.
- Delegate tasks clearly and provide guidance and support to assistant teachers.
- Build strong, professional relationships with families through daily communication and updates.
- Observe and document each child’s development and communicate any concerns promptly.
- Uphold program policies, safety standards, and classroom expectations.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
Requirements
- Experience working with toddlers or young children in an early childhood setting.
- A genuine love for teaching and a strong calling to work with children.
- Understanding of toddler development, behavior guidance, and early learning best practices.
- Willingness to learn and use CT DOTS documentation and assessment tools.
- Ability to lead a classroom with confidence, organization, and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a classroom team.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.
- Willingness to uphold and reflect the mission and values of Family Tree Ministry.
Nice To Haves
- Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS).
- Ability to lead a classroom with confidence, organization, and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a classroom team.
