Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide advanced nursing care in a specialized critical care step-down unit within a progressive healthcare setting in Greenwood, IN. This contract role offers the chance to apply your expertise in ventilator management and titratable drips while working with a focused team caring for ICU and cardiac patients.
Location Overview:The unit is a 16-bed step-down critical care unit located on the third floor of a renowned heart center. Patient ratios maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient balance, ensuring attentive, high-quality care. The environment supports professional growth with access to advanced equipment such as ventilators and utilizes the Epic electronic medical record system.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care in a critical care step-down setting, managing complex patients with cardiac and ICU needs
- Monitor and manage ventilators and titratable drips with precision
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and unit policies, including medication and sharps storage security
- Participate in weekend shifts every other weekend from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with no on-call responsibilities
- Assist with float duties across step-down and other critical care units as required
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with 2+ years of critical care or step-down nursing experience
- ACLS certification required
- Proficient in ventilator management and titratable IV drips
- Experience with ICU cardiac patients preferred
- Comfortable working within a team-oriented environment
- Navy scrubs required; hoodies and sweatshirts are not permitted
Schedule:
- 36 guaranteed weekly hours
- Every other weekend shifts (Friday and Saturday nights)
- Holidays as needed; no call requirements
