Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) serving students in kindergarten through 5th grade. This role is based in the Virginia Beach area and supports a small caseload of 8 students at a district center, offering focused and specialized instruction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and specialized support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring they have access to the general curriculum.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with families, general education teachers, and related service providers to support student learning and development.
  • Use assessment data to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with K-5 students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred; candidates with 0-2 years through 10+ years of experience will be considered.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to student-centered instruction.
  • Ability to manage a caseload with individualized attention to each students needs.

Position Details:

  • Location: Virginia Beach area
  • Contract assignment through June 16, 2026, with an ASAP start date
  • Full-time commitment, 35 hours per week
  • Single-site support for a focused caseload of 8 students
