Job DescriptionAbout PTWMSI
Paving the Way Multi-Service Institute (PTWMSI) is a growing behavioral health organization providing trauma-informed mental health services across Washington, DC. Our Victims of Crime program supports individuals impacted by violence and trauma through therapeutic services that promote healing, resilience, and recovery.

Position Overview
The Trauma-Based Therapist provides individual and group therapy to primary and secondary victims of crime. This role delivers evidence-based psychotherapy while also incorporating trauma-informed holistic approaches that support recovery and emotional regulation.

The therapist will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, maintain clinical documentation, and collaborate with internal and external providers to support positive mental health outcomes for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy using trauma-informed approaches
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and trauma screenings
• Administer tools such as DLA-20, CAFAS, and ASQ Suicide Screens
• Develop treatment plans and complete clinical documentation
• Maintain a clinical caseload and deliver billable services
• Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate intervention
• Collaborate with psychiatry, care coordination, and community partners

Trauma-Informed & Holistic Interventions
• Facilitate trauma-informed interventions such as mindfulness, meditation, art-based therapy, or other holistic approaches
• Lead therapeutic groups supporting trauma recovery
• Participate in community outreach and trauma-informed education activities
• Support program initiatives that promote trauma-informed care

Qualifications
Education
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

Licensure
Must hold or be eligible for:
• LGSW
• LGPC
• Equivalent provisional licensure in Washington, DC

Experience
Early-career clinicians are encouraged to apply. Internship experience may be considered. Experience working with trauma or community mental health populations is preferred.

Skills• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and behavioral health practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with diverse populations
• Strong clinical documentation and time management skills
• Ability to integrate traditional and holistic therapeutic approaches
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems
