The Area Safety Manager position will be based out of either Billings, MT or Denver, CO. Will cover the Midwest Rockies areas of Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Will be required to travel up to 75% of the time.


OVERVIEW: As an Area Safety manager, you will serve as the area staff subject matter expert in safety, developing and carrying out procedures as well as documenting processes within the organization. you will be responsible for the safety and training compliance as outlined by company and OSHA directives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct on-site Safety Observation Reports to look for possible hazardous and deficient situations, implement solutions and follow up with corrective action to employees as needed.
  • Conduct random site visits for the purpose of training crews and promoting Safety.
  • Create relevant Safety Bulletins.
  • Serve as a resource to our employees for customer specifications regarding safety, OSHA rules and regulations and Betacom safety policies.
  • Work with the other Area Safety Managers to develop proactive safety initiatives.
  • Implement, interact, and maintain active communication processes with Operations management.
  • Conduct classroom training of company personnel and subcontractor’s personnel to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Assign web based training and verify employee training is up to date. Forecast future training.
  • Assist the Director of Safety in creating and revising in-house training modules
  • Issue all training certificates for all Instructor Lead Safety training classes
  • Ensure implementation and tracking of in house safety programs.
  • Coordinate with OSHA on any site inspections
  • Conduct incident investigations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years in the telecommunications tower industry required.
  • Previous experience / knowledge in the areas of safety and risk management recommended. Fleet Safety and DOT compliance would be useful but not required.
  • Must have a valid vehicle driver’s license and driving record that meets criteria to drive as outlined in the Betacom Health, Safety and Environmental Policy Manual’s vehicle policy
  • Must have valid authorization to work in the US
  • Certification as a Trainer in Fall Protection, Rigging, First-Aid/CPR and OSHA standards a plus
  • Must possess computer skills utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and other digital formats.

  • Estimated travel - 75% percent of the time
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be available by phone 24X7
  • Must be in good physical condition with ability to pull combined weight of body and equipment up a vertical tower.
  • Must be comfortable climbing to various heights
  • Must be able to bend, squat, twist and sit for extended periods of time as needed.
