Position Title: Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)

Location: Granville Primary Care, Oxford, NC

Facility: Granville Health System, 62-bed rural hospital

Department: Obstetrics & Gynecology


Position Summary:

Granville Health System is seeking an experienced Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to women, including gynecological exams, family planning services, preconception care, prenatal and postpartum care, and childbirth assistance. This role offers the opportunity to provide care within a supportive, rural community-based setting in Oxford, NC, located 40 miles north of Raleigh.


The CNM will be responsible for managing a full spectrum of obstetric and gynecological care, including low-risk labor and delivery support, routine gynecological care, and reproductive health counseling. The CNM will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality care that aligns with evidence-based practices.


Key Responsibilities:

Obstetric Care:

  • Conduct thorough initial obstetric exams, assessing for any potential complications or pre-existing conditions that may impact pregnancy.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, incorporating diagnostic testing, lab interpretations, and treatment plans tailored to each patient's medical history.
  • Provide ongoing prenatal care, including monitoring fetal heart rate (FHR), non-stress tests (NST), and cervical exams for labor assessment.
  • Educate patients on pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, and wellness.
  • Support low-risk laboring patients through labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and positive childbirth experience, and providing continuous care during the postpartum period.

Gynecological Care:

  • Provide routine gynecological services, including well-woman exams, pap smears, and screenings for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  • Offer counseling and management for all methods of family planning, as well as reproductive life planning.
  • Treat common gynecological conditions such as menopause, perimenopause, pelvic pain, and postmenopausal bleeding.
  • Provide postoperative care and follow-up visits for gynecological surgeries.

Patient Education and Support:

  • Offer counseling and education on contraception, sexual health, menopause, and overall reproductive well-being.
  • Promote preventive care and wellness strategies, emphasizing lifestyle modifications and health screenings.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential patient records in accordance with Granville Health System’s policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Certification: AMCB Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).
  • Education: Graduate of a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by the ACNM Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
  • Degree: Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN/MS).
  • Licensure: Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina.
  • Certifications: CPR and NALS certification required.
  • DEA License: Current unrestricted DEA license or ability to obtain.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of full-time experience as a CNM preferred; Labor & Delivery experience is also preferred.
