Job Description

Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Building Engineer to support the daily operations, maintenance, and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general facility maintenance. This role involves troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to service requests to ensure the facility operates efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to customer service.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC/R equipment, including air handlers, chillers, and refrigeration systems.
· Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC/R and associated systems to ensure optimal performance.
· Respond to and resolve on-demand HVAC service requests from building tenants.
· Assist with basic carpentry, metal work, painting, and hard surface maintenance and repair.
· Perform light plumbing repairs, including restroom fixtures and minor leaks.
· Work on elevated platforms and in confined spaces as required.
· Respond to customer requests professionally, ensuring timely service and resolution.
· Accurately complete work orders, reports, and documentation as required.
· Assist in emergency situations, including after-hours calls.
· Follow safety protocols, fire codes, and emergency procedures, reporting unsafe conditions.
· Maintain clean and organized work areas after completing tasks.
· Work collaboratively under the direction of the Chief Engineer to ensure building systems operate efficiently.
· Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
· Assist in training new employees as directed.

Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 3+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair.
· Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
· Experience using tools and materials required for building maintenance.
· Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical documentation.
· Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
· Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Office products.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
· Availability to work shifts, overtime, and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
· Technical school certification in HVAC, building maintenance, or a related field.
· EPA Universal Certification (preferred but not required).
· 2+ years of experience with commercial HVAC/R equipment and systems.
· Experience in multi-tenant high-rise commercial buildings.
· Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS).
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with tenants, staff, and management.
