Machine Shop Manager
Pay: $120,000 – $185,000/year (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (40+ hrs/week)
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee daily operations in a high-mix, low-volume machining environment. The role involves managing people, equipment, and schedules to meet production goals while maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily CNC and manual machining operations
- Plan production schedules and allocate labor/resources effectively
- Lead, coach, and develop machinists and setup personnel
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to resolve issues and improve throughput
- Track and report key performance metrics (safety, quality, delivery, productivity)
- Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Ensure safety compliance and equipment maintenance
Qualifications
- 10+ years machining experience, including 5+ in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of CNC and manual machining, setup, and tooling
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Skilled in team leadership and performance management
- Familiar with ERP systems and lean principles
- Technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
