Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years PICU RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide critical respiratory care in a Level IV Trauma Center, short-term acute care hospital with a major teaching program. This contract role supports the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and emergency room (ER) settings during night shifts, requiring flexibility and readiness to manage both adult and pediatric patients.
Shift:
- 3x12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Weekdays with some weekends and float assignments
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver respiratory therapy interventions in PICU, ER, and general care units
- Manage critical care and general respiratory cases for adults and pediatric patients
- Collaborate closely with a small night team, often working with only two therapists
- Float within scope of practice to sister facilities as needed
- Participate in orientation sessions every other Tuesday
Desired Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required
- Minimum of 1 year respiratory therapy experience; first-time travel therapists welcome
- Current ACLS certification required; PALS and NALS certifications mandatory for pediatric care
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Experience in PICU and ER settings strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt to floating and flexible scheduling demands
- Must submit and have year-round time-off requests approved two weeks in advance
