Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly/weekly payroll across multiple states
  • Review and audit payroll data, including timekeeping records, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll-related transactions
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with general ledger entries as needed
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
  • Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation and audit requests
  • Assist in identifying and implementing payroll process improvements
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll regulations and best practices


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
  • Strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and tax regulations
  • Experience with payroll software such as ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in [industry, e.g., healthcare, technology, manufacturing]
  • Familiarity with union payroll or international payroll (if applicable)
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting and reconciliation processes
