Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly/weekly payroll across multiple states
- Review and audit payroll data, including timekeeping records, deductions, bonuses, and other payroll-related transactions
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with general ledger entries as needed
- Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
- Support year-end processes including W-2 preparation and audit requests
- Assist in identifying and implementing payroll process improvements
- Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll regulations and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment
- Strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and tax regulations
- Experience with payroll software such as ADP, UKG, Workday, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in [industry, e.g., healthcare, technology, manufacturing]
- Familiarity with union payroll or international payroll (if applicable)
- Knowledge of payroll accounting and reconciliation processes
