Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in a busy hospital laboratory setting. This role involves obtaining blood specimens and collecting nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs for laboratory testing. The Phlebotomist will also perform screening tests, report results, process specimens for laboratory testing, and prepare them for dispatch to reference laboratories.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain blood specimens using venipuncture techniques.
  • Collect nonblood specimens such as urine, sputum, and throat swabs.
  • Perform screening tests and accurately report results.
  • Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Prepare specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in phlebotomy, blood draws, and venipuncture.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred, but not required.
  • At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience or clinical training with patient practice.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • If newly certified, clinical rotations or hospital experience is required.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of specimen collections during different shifts.

Work Environment

This position is based in a busy hospital lab setting. The hospital offers a long-term opportunity with a growing environment, providing a corporate development structure for career advancement. The role involves rotating weekend shifts and a 6-day work stretch. The hospital features the only burn unit in the area, with most patients being adults and very few pediatric cases. Phlebotomists may also be called to codes, ABGs, and rapids.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $20.00/hr.
