CONTROLLER (FT) - Seeking experienced senior accountant, assistant controller or controller to join leading condominium and homeowner association management company in northern NJ. Description - The Controller is a capable, effective and multi-skilled professional whose primary responsibility is to oversee the accounting group consisting of assistant controller, accountants, banking and bookkeeping specialists. Controller will prepare monthly accrual based financial statements for the properties they are assigned. The Controller has authoritative interfacing with the managers, auditors and clients regarding questions, projects, or specific analysis when needed. This professional must be able to lead and prioritize within their jurisdiction, duties and tasks.
DIRECTION AND REPORTING - The Controller reports to the President.
GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
· Reviews financials prepared by other staff accountants
· Supervise accounting staff
· Prepare and review budgets with managers
· Develop complex formulations for income and expense budget allocations
· Preparing monthly accrual-based financials
· Prepare Sponsor billing in accordance with the documents and communicate
with the developer
· Direct and implement ongoing and new internal controls and operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be able to effectively communicate with company executives, auditors, clients and managers
· Possess the ability to multi-task
· Possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA designation desired
· Well versed in Word & Excel and accounting software along with cloud-based technology and systems.
JURISDICTION, DUTIES AND TASKS
· Preparing monthly accrual based financial statements
· Analysis of multiple ledgers and worksheets needed to back up financials
· Direct and organize accounting electronic filing
· Implement, document and direct internal controls
· Direct Sponsor billing in accordance with the documents
· Direct reserve and deferred maintenance computations for properties
under construction
· Oversee the work product of the accountants
· Supervise the accounting staff
· Review all audits and coordinate the process and deadlines
· Supervising sub-metering and other specialty products
· Participate in website development and marketing materials
· Participate in marketing the company to prospective clients
· Develop and introduce in house training programs
· Interface with software and banking executives
· Direct the schedule of workflow amongst the accounting group
· Oversee the activities of the office concierge
· Evaluate products and services to enhance accounting operations
· Provide essential recruiting and human relations needs
· Develop operating procedures and training manuals
· Advise boards and developers on relevant industry best practices
· Keep current on technology applications and industry standards
