Job Title: Special Education Teacher K-12
Location: Heartland School
Job Type: Full-Time Position
Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to work with K-12 students facing emotional and behavioral challenges. This role requires a dynamic educator who is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for students with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for students with emotional and behavioral issues
- Use effective classroom management techniques to foster a positive learning atmosphere
- Deliver rigorous and engaging lessons tailored to students' needs.
- Collaborate with educators, support staff, and mental health professionals to support student success
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment that promotes social and emotional growth
-Maintain accurate records and documentation of student performance and behavior.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred
-Valid teaching certification in Special Education or working towards certification.
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges preferred
. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

With a total enrollment of 50 students Heartland School is able to attend to students in a therapeutic and enriching environment that encourages, sanctions, and allocates time for teachers and staff to get to know each of the students, their needs, how to assist them, and how to overcome deficits and capitalize on their strengths.
There is the time to work with the students. There is time to work with the parents and guardians without extracurricular expectations and large class sizes to contend with.
Generally, issues can be addressed quicker, plans can be arranged and services can be offered all in the hopes of returning the students back to the regular home school environment.
