Position Title: Event Planner
Status: Part-Time Contractor
Schedule/Hours: Approximately 15–20 hours per week
Reports To: VP of Social Enterprises
Position Summary
Plan and execute fundraising events and in‑store experiences that increase visibility, drive customer traffic, and support the mission of inclusive employment. Primary focus is to strengthen community partnerships and outreach.
Key Goals
- Increase In-Store & Online Traffic at Good Cause Gifts
Help attract new and returning customers to Good Cause Gifts through community events, outreach, promotions, and local engagement initiatives.
- Build Community Awareness & Engagement
Build relationships within the Kensington/Berlin community, including the Chamber of Commerce, neighboring businesses, and community organizations, to strengthen awareness of the Good Cause Gifts brand and mission while exploring opportunities for event collaborations and corporate gifting.
- Plan & Execute Events that Support Retail Sales
Plan and execute a minimum of twelve (12) organized, welcoming, and brand-aligned in-store events that increase attendance, encourage customer engagement, and support retail sales growth.
- Track Performance & Support Continuous Improvement
Track event attendance, customer engagement, and sales performance; analyze results and provide reporting and recommendations to support ongoing improvement.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with local businesses, vendors, community organizations, and other potential community partners
- Maintain event calendars, outreach lists, RSVP lists, and related planning documents
- Coordinate event timelines, vendors, supplies, signage, setup, and on-site logistics
- Deploy event communications and promotional materials/collateral using established templates and processes
- Capture and log/organize event attendee information.
- Deliver welcoming customer service and represent the Good Cause Gifts brand and mission professionally during events and community activations
- Assist with general event setup, breakdown, and coordination, including occasional evenings and weekends
- Track event attendance, engagement, and sales data for reporting purposes; provide timely event recaps, analysis, and recommendations to the store leadership team for continuous improvement
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- An outgoing, welcoming personality and comfort building relationships within the Kensington/Berlin community
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Comfort managing multiple moving pieces in a fast-paced retail and event environment
- A positive, proactive, and dependable approach to work
- Experience in retail, events, hospitality, customer service, or community engagement preferred
- Comfort capturing photos and video for event promotion and community engagement using a smartphone or similar tools
- Familiarity with Canva, email platforms, and basic Microsoft Office tools preferred
- Flexibility to support occasional evenings and weekends for events
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Minimal lifting up to 25 lbs. or utilize team lift of office equipment or supplies routine required. Must be able to communicate clearly and possess the ability to meet multiple job demands in a busy environment.
