Summary
Coordinate Youth fellowship activities for grades 4 through 8 to promote Christian based values and learning. This position has the potential to expand to include grade 9 through 12.
The applicant must be Christian and pass a background check.
Responsibilities
The Director of Youth Ministry duties shall include the following:
1. Be a regular participant in Worship and a witness to Christ as a positive role model and facilitator in the continued spiritual development of the youth
2. Plan, develop and implement Youth activities for youth in grades 4 through 8 of the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park including but not exclusive to:
· Regularly scheduled youth meetings
· Youth Retreats, Spiritual Growth retreats and interdenominational youth events
· Mission Outreach
These activities shall be accomplished with the cooperation of the families of Youth and. interested adult leaders
3. Be a liaison to all activities involving the youth for the purpose of coordination
4. Be an active listener and confidant for youth desiring support (consultation with the Pastor as needed).
5. Ensure compliance to Safe Sanctuary policy and music copyright laws.
6. Participate in continuing education deemed appropriate by Staff-Parish Relations and the Pastor.
7. Propose and manage the budget designated for Youth programming.
8. Regularly attend staff meetings, and Education Commission meetings.
9. Function as an integral part of the church staff with active participation in the Pastor’s meetings.
10. Attend and complete other Ministry related functions as designated by the Pastor.
Essential Qualities
1. Must have a passion to share the Gospel.
2. Demonstrate a deep commitment to faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
3. Good interpersonal skills and patience.
4. Good administrative abilities, including the ability to plan, implement and follow through on projects.
5. The ability to recruit and involve adult volunteers.
Experience
· Preferred candidate should have 3 – 5 years of proven youth ministry success
Compensation
· Up to 10 hours per week. Salary is based on skills and experience ($16 - $20 per hour).
