Job Description Director of Supply Chain
Location: Brooklyn, NY (5 days onsite)
Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 + bonus eligibility
Overview
Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization based in Brooklyn, is seeking a hands-on Director of Supply Chain to lead purchasing, vendor strategy, and supply chain optimization. This role is heavily focused on procurement, vendor negotiations, and supplier management, ensuring the consistent and cost-effective flow of raw materials to support production operations.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and operational, with proven experience managing teams while directly driving purchasing strategy and vendor performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all purchasing activities, including sourcing, procurement strategy, and purchasing processes
- Ensure consistent supply of raw materials and components to support production demands, balancing cost, lead times, and inventory constraints
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that drive cost savings while maintaining quality and reliability
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast material needs to support production planning
- Lead contract negotiations with vendors, including pricing, terms, and service-level agreements
- Manage and strengthen relationships with a diverse vendor base, ensuring performance, pricing competitiveness, and continuity of supply
- Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to drive accountability and improvement
- Identify and onboard new suppliers as needed to optimize cost, quality, and risk mitigation
- Oversee purchase order processes, vendor communication, and delivery timelines to minimize supply disruptions
- Analyze market conditions, pricing trends, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Production, Finance, and Leadership to align supply chain priorities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of purchasing and supply chain professionals
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics for the team and ensure accountability
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance environment focused on continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field (preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain or procurement, with a strong emphasis on purchasing
- Proven experience negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships at scale
- Prior experience in manufacturing environments (food/beverage or CPG strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated people management experience, including leading and developing teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Excel and ERP systems
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, onsite environment
