Position Overview

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will manage the day-to-day HR operations and perform HR-related duties in the following functional areas: compliance, employee relations, recruitment, staffing, and training. The HR Generalist works in implementing processes and programs that advance effective recruiting and retention of CBA’s most important assets, high-performing team members. By gathering valuable feedback, the HR Generalist plays a key role in driving organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement, ultimately contributing to the fulfillment of CBA’s mission.


Core Responsibilities

The HR Generalist will be responsible for:

  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures, communicate changes to employees, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations.
  • Operate ethically to protect the assets and image of the company.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential HR reports, records, and documentation, including employee files, attendance, and timekeeping.
  • Assist with employee benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
  • Address employee concerns and questions and escalate issues to the Senior Strategy Execution Manager when necessary.
  • Lead the onboarding and orientation processes for new hires.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, initial interviewing, and coordinating interview schedules.
  • Ensure that HR policies and procedures are compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist in managing audits and employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, grievances, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Support training initiatives and maintain training records.
  • Handle all aspects of unemployment claims, including documentation, communication with relevant agencies, and representing the company in hearings/appeals.
  • Lead the termination and exit interview process.

Qualifications

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Minimum 4 years of human resources experience, healthcare industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint).
  • Have excellent follow-through and be detail oriented.
  • Must possess excellent oral, written, presentation and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Results oriented with ability to effectively manage projects and tight deadlines

Preferred Experience

  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Have a familiarity with Paylocity as a human resource management platform preferred.
  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role in a nonprofit setting with specific expertise in unemployment claims, Workers Compensation, Benefits, and employee engagement preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment preferred.

Reporting Structure

The HR Generalist will directly report to the Executive Operations Manager and work closely with CBA’s senior leadership and staff members.
