Engine Lathes, Milling Machines, and Grinders
Basic Function:
Operates manual machine tools to produce components used in the manufacture or repair of hydraulic cylinders, or machined components for contract customers.
Typical Duties:
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings to plan and set-up all manual machine tools. Set-up includes selecting proper tooling and fixtures.
- Uses all types of measuring and gauging tools or instruments to verify accuracy of set-up prior to start of production run.
- Adjusts machine, tools, or fixture to insure machined parts conform to engineering drawings or other specifications. Uses typical machinist hand-tools.
- Uses measuring and gauging tools to determine usability of parts for repair orders.
- Repair defective parts or make replacement parts when repairs are not practical.
- Produces quantity of parts in accordance with order or supervisor’s instructions.
- Performs manual operations on parts, such as de-burring, cleaning tapped holes, and removing excess oils or coolant, before moving them to the next work center or holding area.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Observes and listens to machine tool to detect any performance discrepancy or potential failure.
- Makes minor maintenance adjustments or repairs to machine, as required.
- Maintains a clean machine and orderly work area.
- Observes all rules for personal safety and all public laws or regulations for protection of the environment.
- Completes documentation or data entry, as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience Preferences
- 3-5 years of machinist experience
- Basic computer skills
