ABOUT THE JOB
To operate the waste plant including all necessary laboratory work and general labor required for safe and reliable operation ensuring the integrity of the product.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates process equipment including the approval and implementation of operational changes/ adjustments.
- Performs housekeeping of plant to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Operates and maintains the quality control laboratory per assigned schedules and requirements to ensure product quality control per customer specifications.
- Records process data and provide accurate reporting of analysis data as required by the operation.
- Performs any (non skllled) equipment maintenance and assists with plant maintenance activities as required.
- Participates in calibration of plant and laboratory equipment.
- Wears appropriate safety protection and follows prescribed safety guidelines
- Complies with all applicable plant safety policies and reports to manager all unsafe conditions or deviations form safety policies.
- Recommends operational improvements, purchase of supplies for plant and laboratory to maintain stock,
- Performs other duties assigned by manager or designee.
- Vacation, Holiday and sickness coverage for the operators when trained as an Operator
ARE YOU A MATCH?
- High school diploma required
- Able to read, write and do basic math at high school or equivalent level.
- Prior manufacturing or production experience is often preferred
- Knowledge of operating machinery, ability to read and interpret instructions, and good manual dexterity
- Able to understand written, verbal or non-verbal instructions and listen attentively; clearly describe conditions orally and in writing
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Computer skills
- Rotating shifts for a 24/7 operation some overtime required
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Indicate the approximate percentage of time spent in each of the following:
- Sitting 25%
- Standing 25%
- Walking 50%
- Constantly using near vision to view a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Frequently climbing ladders to heights up to 75 feet,
- Frequently climbing stairs and navigating uneven surfaces
- Frequently operating an automobile, or motorized vehicle
- Lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds
HAZARD EXPOSURE:
- Noise levels may exceed 90 decibels, but mitigated with Safety Policy requiring earplugs
beyond 90 decibels.
- A seat belt policy, safety policy and a no substance abuse policy minimize infrequent exposure
to vehicular accidents; injury or accident occurrence.
- Works primarily indoors; occasionally works outdoors and is exposed to seasonal temperature variations.
- Exposed to dust, allergens, fumes, chemicals, noise and radiation.
