Position Overview
The Patient Care Technician plays a critical role in ensuring prescriptions are entered accurately, medications are prepared correctly, and patients receive compassionate support throughout their care experience.
This role includes responsibilities across data entry, quality assurance and filling, patient and provider support, insurance claim processing, and coordination with lab and inventory teams. What You’ll Do
Prescription Entry & Verification
· Enter prescriptions and patient demographics into the pharmacy system
· Verify prescription details (dosage, formulation, accuracy of hardcopy vs. software entry)
· Process AR account and office order prescriptions
· Process and submit insurance claims
· Ensure proper pricing
· Prepare prescription orders for dispensing
· Prepare/tote prescriptions, including multi-item or multi-dosage orders
· Audit prescriptions for accuracy and identify/document errors to support continuous improvement
Patient & Provider Communication
· Provide quality customer service to patients and healthcare providers
· Answer incoming phone calls and direct them appropriately
· Support Patient Care Associates by addressing patient inquiries
· Welcome patients and visitors to create a warm, compassionate experience
· Communicate turnaround times and cost to patients (in partnership with PCCs)
· Contact referring physician offices for clarification on prescriptions or patient details
· Follow up promptly with Sales Rep and Provider inquiries
Coordination With Lab, Inventory, & Pharmacy Teams
· Coordinate stock on hand replenishment with the Lab team
· Notify Inventory Control when commercial products need replenishment
· Manage the Return‐to‐Stock process with accurate documentation and log expired inventory
· Collaborate closely with Pharmacists to resolve prescription‐related questions
Compliance, Safety & Information Security
· Maintain required CE, HIPAA, and FWA certifications
· Safeguard confidential and proprietary information
What You Bring
· Active Certified Pharmacy Technician licenses (state & national) with up‐to‐date continuing education
· Prior experience in compounding or pharmacy data entry
· Strong written and oral communication skills, including proficiency with chat groups and email threads
· A positive, professional, and courteous demeanor; maintains a “glass-half-full” mindset
· Strong problem‐solving skills
· Comfort focusing in a sometimes loud and busy workspace while maintaining reliable attention to detail
· Openness to corrective feedback and a desire to learn
· A team‐oriented mindset and enthusiasm for achieving shared goals
· Strong math skills and knowledge of basic principles, laws, regulations, and practices related to compounding
· High school diploma or GED
· Basic computer proficiency
· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds
