Job Summary:
The Grants Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive grants program to support House of Hope's mission and strategic goals. This position manages the full grants lifecycle, including research, proposal development, submission, tracking, reporting, and compliance. The Grants Manager works collaboratively with staff and leadership to identify funding needs, gather program data, and translate organizational impact into compelling grant narratives.
Hours:
Full-time, salaried position. Ability to work flexible hours is necessary. Primarily works first shift on weekdays. Duties will require working weekends, evenings and daytime shifts to ensure adequate staff coverage, proper work completion, and fund development duties.
Essential Duties:
The Grants Manager researches and secures funding opportunities, writes compelling grant proposals, and manages the full grants lifecycle, including reporting and compliance for House of Hope. This position collaborates with staff to gather impact data, translate organizational outcomes into persuasive narratives, and maintain excellent relationships with funders. The Grants Manager also develops and maintains comprehensive tracking systems to ensure all grant deadlines, requirements, and opportunities are effectively managed to maximize funding for the organization's mission.
Grants Management
- Researches and identifies grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations that align with House of Hope's mission and programs.
- Develops and maintains a grants calendar to track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and renewal dates.
- Writes and edits grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials in collaboration with program staff and leadership.
- Ensures timely submission of all grant applications and required documentation.
- Maintains accurate records of all grant submissions, awards, and reporting requirements.
- Creates and submits grant reports to funders, ensuring compliance with all grant terms and conditions.
- Tracks grant performance metrics and outcomes to demonstrate program impact.
- Develops and maintains relationships with grant funders, administrators, and program officers.
- Coordinates grant-specific monitoring and audits.
Data Management and Reporting
- Gathers and analyzes program data to support grant applications and reporting.
- Works with staff to document outcomes and success stories.
- Creates and maintains a centralized grants database and filing system.
- Prepares regular reports on grant activities, including pending applications, awarded grants, and upcoming deadlines.
- Assists in analyzing and formatting program outcomes and data for use in proposals and reports.
Program Support
- Collaborates with staff to understand program needs, goals, and outcomes.
- Translates program information into compelling narratives for grant applications.
- Stays informed about the organization's programs, services, and impact to communicate with funders effectively.
- Assists with program evaluation and development of logic models to strengthen grant applications.
Organizational Support
- Participates in staff meetings, trainings, fundraisers, and events related to House of Hope.
- Maintains the confidential nature of client and business information.
- Provides support for other fundraising activities as needed.
- Carries out all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the dynamics of teen pregnancy, poverty, abusive relationships, human behavior, and homelessness.
- Expressed interest in providing services to persons of varied backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities as represented by clients.
- Appropriate interpersonal/communication skills in working with a diverse clientele.
- Ability to meet deadlines and perform tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of computers, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to learn required software.
- Ability to be decisive and make constructive decisions, under the pressure of crises or emergencies, with appropriate knowledge and timing.
- Ability to plan and organize work and to make effective use of time.
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain flexible work hours as required by the position.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, English, communications, public administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in grant writing, nonprofit development, or a similar role.
- Demonstrated success in securing grant funding.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
