The Role
We are looking for a Junior Underwriting Assistant to join our team in Westlake, CA ⛰️. The role requires working in the office from 8am to 5pm, contributing to our dynamic and supportive environment.
Supported by (and reporting to) Lead Underwriter, you'll be joining a friendly team of 5 who believe in providing high-quality support to our underwriting and sales departments to ensure seamless policy delivery.

What you'll do
As a Junior Underwriting Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Underwriting department by collecting external customer information, performing data entry, and helping with owner-operator account risk assessments, state filings, and policy binds.
You’ll be working on:

Policy Execution: Complete insurance policy binds with accuracy in a timely manner to ensure coverage is active when needed.

Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the point of contact for underwriters, customer service, and sales to track, manage, and prioritize insurance applications.

Regulatory Compliance: Process policy filings for state authorities and manage cancellations or reinstatements in accordance with state law.

Data Integrity: Maintain policy log verification with relevant information and manage loss run requests.

Team Collaboration: Correspond internally with Sales team members via phone, email, and in person to collect necessary insurance forms.

What to expect from the process:
Screen & Intro: 30-minute video call with the Talent Team to discuss the role and your experience.
Interview: 60-minute onsite with our Lead Underwriter and People Lead to delve into the role, including situational and behavioural questions, and an opportunity for you to ask questions.
We encourage you to ask questions about the role and the company throughout the hiring process. We believe that this is as much an opportunity for you to interview us as it is for us to interview you.
What we offer
Our budget for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 and we will take into account any previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer.
