About the Role:

The Sr. IT Automation Support role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and continuous improvement of automation systems within a manufacturing environment. This position focuses on maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms, which are critical to production processes. The successful candidate will lead efforts in troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and managing change control processes to minimize downtime and optimize system performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including IT, cybersecurity, and manufacturing operations is essential to align automation support with organizational goals. Ultimately, this role drives operational excellence by safeguarding data integrity and enhancing system reliability to support manufacturing productivity and compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting IT automation systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven expertise in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they apply to industrial control systems.
  • Experience with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and change control processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications related to IT automation, cybersecurity, or manufacturing systems (e.g., CISSP, CISA, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with data integrity standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Hands-on experience with scripting or programming languages used in automation support (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for MES and SCADA systems to ensure continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Implement and manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address system issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Oversee change control processes related to automation systems, ensuring all modifications comply with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain robust security protocols protecting automation infrastructure and sensitive manufacturing data.
  • Monitor data integrity across automation platforms and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies or anomalies promptly.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to system configurations, support procedures, and compliance activities.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on technical support best practices and automation system knowledge.
  • Participate in cross-departmental projects aimed at enhancing automation capabilities and manufacturing efficiency.

Skills:

The required skills are applied daily to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues within MES and SCADA systems, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing processes. Technical support expertise enables the candidate to respond effectively to system alerts and user inquiries, while cybersecurity knowledge is critical to safeguarding automation infrastructure against threats. Data integrity skills ensure that all manufacturing data is accurate, consistent, and compliant with regulatory standards, which is vital for quality control and reporting. The ability to implement CAPA and manage change control processes helps maintain system stability and continuous improvement. Preferred skills such as scripting and project management enhance the candidate’s capability to automate routine tasks, streamline workflows, and lead initiatives that improve overall system performance and reliability.
