Robert Half is looking for a Senior Accountant to lead core accounting activities and deliver accurate, timely financial information that supports sound business decisions for our client located in the Greater Philadelphia area. This Senior Accountant position plays a central role in maintaining financial integrity, overseeing reporting cycles, and partnering with leadership on planning and analysis. The Senior Accountant role also contributes to payroll administration, compliance efforts, and ongoing improvements to accounting processes.
Responsibilities:
- Direct daily accounting operations, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and financial data remains current and reliable.
- Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and complete detailed account and bank reconciliations while investigating and correcting variances.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements along with management reports that highlight trends, risks, and performance drivers.
- Administer payroll processing and related reconciliations, while ensuring payroll tax filings and reporting obligations are completed correctly and on time.
- Support changes in payroll providers by coordinating payroll system integrations and helping maintain continuity and accuracy throughout the transition.
- Work with external accounting and tax advisors on year-end activities, tax preparation support, sales tax filings, and audit documentation requests.
- Maintain fixed asset records, track depreciation schedules, assist with inventory-related accounting, and help establish strong internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Coordinate vendor onboarding and credit-related documentation while contributing to broader process improvement initiatives across the organization.
The ideal Senior Accountant candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education. CPA preferred.
Other requirements for the Senior Accountant position include and are not limited to:
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong experience with QuickBooks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multiple departments.
