Can you read a print, plan the setup, and hit tenths on a manual lathe? Do you thrive on complex work, tight tolerances, and doing it right the first time? If so, you’ll feel at home machining high-stakes turbomachinery parts.

What you’ll do

  • Own complex setups and manual operations: turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, reaming, tapping, sawing, slotting, grooving, and grinding.
  • Lay out work from drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal guidance, operating with limited supervision.
  • Hold extremely close tolerances and validate every cut with micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments.

How you’ll do it

  • Rely on tooling knowledge, specifications, procedures, and documentation to achieve repeatable results.
  • Keep the work area clean and safe; model professional conduct with internal and external customers.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance; alert the team for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Record inspections and complete production/quality logs; ensure continuity across shifts by documenting actions, irregularities, and next steps.
  • Train teammates on equipment operation, print reading, tooling selection, machining practices, and repair processes.
  • Complete dimensional inspections and sustain annual dimensional inspection certification.

  • Manual Grinder, Manual Lathe, Manual Vertical Mill
  • Vertical boring mills; horizontal mills; horizontal/vertical lathes
  • Layout machines; deburring tools; fixtures
  • Radial and angular drill presses
  • Forklifts, overhead cranes, jib hoists, and advanced rigging equipment
  • Personal computers for documentation, specifications, and data entry

Background we look for

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • 5–8 years working with rotating turbo machinery
  • Advanced rigging capability
  • Advanced manual lathe machining
  • Experience with turbines, compressors, and other rotating machinery
