Under the general supervision of department leadership, the Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for processing referrals, scheduling patients, and completing all front-end financial clearance functions. This includes verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, obtaining prior authorizations, completing pre-registration, determining patient liability, and helping prevent claim denials or delays in care. The Coordinator also assists self-pay and underinsured patients by screening for financial assistance or other applicable programs.ntly.

This is a remote, contract-to-hire position with equipment provided. Candidates must live in Kentucky, West Virginia, or Eastern Tennessee.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Process incoming referrals accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Schedule patient appointments according to provider availability, referral requirements, and departmental workflows.
  • Complete insurance eligibility and benefit verification prior to service.
  • Perform pre-registration, ensuring all demographic and insurance information is accurate.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and ensure requirements are met to prevent denials or delays.
  • Determine, communicate, and collect patient liability before scheduled services.
  • Attempt to collect prior balances and document all financial discussions.
  • Screen self-pay or underinsured patients for financial assistance programs and refer them as needed.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, and payers to support smooth care coordination.
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational, payer, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support a positive patient experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in patient access, revenue cycle management, medical office administration, or related healthcare operations.
  • MediTech experience (required).
  • Prior experience in scheduling, insurance verification, authorizations, and/or financial counseling strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of patient access best practices, eligibility requirements, payer rules, and pre-service financial workflows.
  • Experience reviewing insurance benefits and determining patient responsibility.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial and clinical information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Schedule: Monday-Friday Business Hours

Pay: $16-18 per hour depending on experience

Length: 800 hours (Approx. 5 months) Contract to Hire*

*Possibility of long-term employment with client company upon successful completion of contract period

Equipment Deposit Program: $30 per paycheck for the first 10 weeks of employment will be aside for a total of $300 equipment security deposit. The full amount will be returned to you upon receipt of the equipment, or upon permanent employment.
