Lead Handyman / Skilled Home Technician III – $25–$35/hr – Must Have Tools (Raleigh, NC)

Surv Raleigh is searching for a highly skilled, experienced Handyman (Tech III) who can lead jobs, mentor junior techs, and deliver top-tier home repairs. If you take pride in craftsmanship and want steady, rewarding work with a professional team—we want you.

What You’ll Do (Tech III Responsibilities)

Skilled Repairs & Trades Work

• Drywall patching, finishing & texturing
• Light carpentry: trim, doors, cabinets, framing repairs
• Tile repairs & caulking
• Light plumbing: faucets, disposals, supply valves
• Light electrical: fixtures, switches, outlets
• Bathroom remodels
• Soffit & fascia repairs
• Door hanging, rehanging, and frame repairs
• Interior/exterior painting & staining
• Small demo tasks as needed

Drywall & Surface Repair

• Drywall patching, taping, mudding, sanding
• Matching wall textures (orange peel, knockdown, etc.)
• Repairing large holes, cracks, stress fractures
• Ceiling drywall replacement for small areas

Plumbing (Non-Licensed Tasks)

• Replacing faucets, supply lines, and P-traps
• Fixing leaky shutoff valves
• Installing garbage disposals
• Toilet repairs & installations
• Replacing bath hardware and accessories
• Installing washing machine hoses
• Unclogging minor drain stoppages

Light Electrical (Non-Licensed Tasks)

• Replacing light fixtures and ceiling fans
• Swapping switches, dimmers, and outlets
• Replacing GFCIs
• Installing smart doorbells, thermostats, & smart switches
• Troubleshooting simple electrical issues

Home Maintenance & Installations

• Mounting TVs, shelves, mirrors, and heavy items
• Assembling furniture
• Weatherstripping doors & windows
• Replacing door hardware & deadbolts
• Installing curtain rods & blinds
• Apartment/home turnover punch list work
• Garage organization installs
• Installing attic ladders
• Dryer vent cleaning

Leadership & Admin

• Lead 1–3 person crews on jobs
• Conduct walkthroughs & prepare estimates
• Mentor Jr. techs
• Track time in HouseCall Pro
• Communicate with office staff & homeowners
• Maintain a professional customer experience

Bonus Specialist Pay

Earn additional hourly bonuses for specialty skillsets:

• Drywall Specialist: +$2/hr
• Tile Specialist: +$2/hr
• Carpentry Specialist: +$2/hr
• Electrical Certified: +$3/hr
• Plumbing Specialist: +$2/hr

(Multiples stack for multi-skilled techs.)

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in handyman or skilled trades
• Strong work portfolio (photos required)
• Own core tools (we provide ladders + specialty tools)
• Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs & climb ladders
• Strong communication & customer service skills
• Comfortable working independently and leading others

• You rely on YouTube for basic repairs
• You show up late or struggle with communication
• You do not have your own tools
• You prefer to work only weekends
• You cannot confidently work alone
• You dislike interacting with customers
• You do not take pride in cleanliness or craftsmanship
• You are not willing to document work or use mobile apps

Schedule

• Part-time or full-time
• Monday–Saturday availability
• Minimum 20 hours/week
• Local Raleigh work only
