Reports to: Pharmacy Technician Supervisor

Compensation: $23.00-$30.35 per hour, plus $1.75 per hour shift differential premium for hours worked between 6pm-6am

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday 10:30am-7:30pm & Saturday 9:30am-6:00pm

Status: 100% Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Union

Probation: 90 days

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: As the nation’s largest and most experienced provider of LGBT medical and mental health services, we help LGBTQ people lead healthier, happier lives, by keeping their minds and body well. All services are free or low cost. We’re also one of the few Federally Qualified Health Centers in the nation with providers who specialize in primary care for LGBTQ people and with a research team working to advance the care and treatment of people in our community.

JOB SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician II assists Pharmacists in the performance of pharmacy related duties. Under the direct supervision and control of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II performs packaging, manipulative, repetitive, or other nondiscretionary tasks within established standards and guidelines. The Pharmacist Technician II may also perform clerical functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Nondiscretionary Tasks

o Remove drug or drugs from stock.

o Count, pour, or mix pharmaceuticals.

o Place product into container.

o Affix label or labels to container.

o Package and repackage.

o Present prescriptions to pharmacist for review.

• Clerical Functions

o Collect, enter, and update patient data into pharmacy management system for prescription and billing processing including but not limited to third party payers, delivery preferences, allergies, etc.

o Process prescriptions and ensure that third party adjudication process is complete in accordance with Los Angeles LGBT Center procedure.

o Interact with patients, external pharmacies, medical providers, other staff members, etc. in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner to optimize customer service in the pharmacy.

o Prepares and processes prior authorization, treatment authorization requests and other payment issues. works closely with third party payers, medical providers and clients to resolve issues.

o Assists pharmacist in performing audit control functions such as the review of drug usage records.

o Prepares prescription orders for mail order or delivery as required.

o Receive and store incoming supplies, count stock, and enter data into pharmacy management system according to Center procedure.

o Assist with the maintenance of all paperwork and filing as required.

o Assist with monthly inventory count as required.

o Help maintain clean, orderly, environment in the Pharmacy.

o Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and other meetings as needed.

o Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.

• A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.

• Two to three years’ experience in a high-pressure professional medical environment.

• Current California Pharmacy Technician License.

• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

• Proficiency with pharmacy management and other software systems, knowledge of Pioneer Rx preferred.

• Ability to work effectively with people of diverse genders, races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.

• Bilingual skills a plus (English/Spanish fluency preferred).

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
