An opportunity is available for an experienced Radiation Therapist specializing in Radiation Therapy to deliver precise patient care using advanced radiation treatment technologies. This contract position is located at a facility near Naval Anacost Annex, DC, within a 100-mile commuting radius, offering a structured day shift schedule Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with possible weekend call.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy preferred
- Certified as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist credential from the Department of State Health Services required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- 3-5 years experience as a credentialed Radiation Therapist (RTT)
- Proficiency with Linear Accelerator, C.T. Simulator, ADAC Treatment Planning System, and VARIS System
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer daily radiation treatments to patients under the direction of Radiation Oncologists
- Collaborate with oncologists and physics personnel to perform simulation and treatment calculations
- Conduct daily warm-up and quality assurance of treatment machines and CT simulators
- Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy processes, addressing concerns and clarifying treatment plans
- Ensure accurate data communication to clinical staff involved in dose calculation and treatment planning
- Follow and enforce standard treatment protocols, guaranteeing all procedures are signed off by the Radiation Oncologist, including Isodose Plans and clinical documentation
